The Black Travelers’ Impact on The Tourism Industry and The Opportunity for the Caribbean Region
“The economic value of African American travelers has increased in 2018 to $63 billion from $48 billion in 2010. African American “cultural” travelers are the highest spenders, with an average per trip spends of $2,078 versus $1,345 for all African American travelers (Globenewswire).” How can the Caribbean, specifically Haiti, attracts these travelers to contribute to our economy?
Haiti is for an extended period known for its political instabilities, poverty, name it, the country has become the hub of international NGOs after the earthquake that happened in 2010, and more than 10 years later, people have difficulty talking about Haiti without associate it with the earthquake. The truth is that it is not something that will change tomorrow, but we believe in disrupting that narrative.
Like many developing countries, Haiti also shares its part of world issues; nevertheless, the country is a friendly place with plenty of natural resources ready to be enjoyed. On top of that, it is a source of inspiration for many countries worldwide, with a rich history to be told.
